Fleet & commercial auto insurance for General & Commercial Contractors
Pickups, flatbeds, dump and stake-bed trucks, trailers, and the crews that drive them between job sites across Texas.
Vehicles we typically see
- ¾-ton and 1-ton pickups
- Flatbed and stake-bed trucks
- Dump trucks and roll-offs
- Equipment trailers
- Superintendent and estimator vehicles
What underwriters focus on
- Heavier units and trailers that change how the schedule is rated
- Job-site radius, including projects outside the home metro
- Who is allowed to drive, and how new hires are screened
- Hauling your own equipment and materials versus hauling for others
- Owner-operator subcontractors and leased equipment
Coverage worth reviewing
- Liability limits that satisfy general contractor and owner agreements
- Additional insured, waiver of subrogation, and primary/non-contributory wording
- Hired and non-owned auto for rentals and employees’ personal vehicles
- Physical damage on newer units, with deductibles that fit your cash position
- Umbrella or excess limits sized to the contracts you bid
Where we fit. We work best with established general contractors businesses running several vehicles — often 5 to 50 — with current commercial auto coverage and a renewal coming up. Eligibility depends on the operation and the insurance companies involved.
Questions fleet owners ask
Do our trailers need to be listed on the auto policy?
Usually yes. Trailers are typically scheduled with their own values and may be rated differently from the power units that pull them. Equipment carried on a trailer is generally a separate inland marine exposure, not auto.
A GC is asking for higher auto limits than we carry. What are our options?
Higher primary limits, an umbrella or excess policy, or a combination. The right structure depends on the contract wording and what the umbrella will schedule over. Send us the insurance section of the contract and we can walk through it.
