What underwriters focus on

- Take-home vehicles for on-call technicians
- Driver experience on larger or specialized units

- Limits and endorsements required by commercial and industrial customers
- Hired and non-owned auto for technicians using personal vehicles
- Umbrella limits for industrial and municipal work
Where we fit. We work best with established electrical contractors businesses running several vehicles — often 5 to 50 — with current commercial auto coverage and a renewal coming up. Eligibility depends on the operation and the insurance companies involved.
Questions fleet owners ask
Are tools in the van covered by the auto policy?
Generally no. Commercial auto physical damage covers the vehicle and, depending on the policy, permanently attached equipment. Tools and materials are typically insured separately under an inland marine or contractor’s equipment policy.
Our bucket trucks are expensive. Does that change where the account fits?
It can. Some markets are comfortable with specialized units and some are not. That is one reason we look at the full vehicle schedule before approaching anyone.
