How a review works

A fleet review built around what underwriters actually need.

Start with what you have. We’ll tell you whether a review looks worthwhile and what else is needed.

  1. Tell us about the business

A short review form: your operation, vehicles, drivers, current insurance, and renewal date. Upload documents if you have them.

  2. We review the inquiry

We look at whether the account is something we can help with and whether a market review looks worthwhile. If not, we’ll say so.

  3. We request what’s missing

If it’s a fit, we ask for any remaining documents and supplemental applications.

  4. We approach the appropriate markets

Only those that appear to fit your vehicles, drivers, loss history, and operations.

  5. We compare results with you

Premium, coverage, limits, deductibles, payment options, and service — with a clear explanation of the differences.

Timing

Commercial auto submissions take time to prepare and underwrite, and every insurance company works on its own schedule. For an established fleet, the best time to start is well ahead of renewal — often 60 to 90 days out — so there is room to gather documents and compare options without pressure.

Submitting an inquiry does not bind coverage or guarantee a quote, coverage, or acceptance by an insurance company.

What to have ready

The documents that make a complete fleet submission.

Exact requirements vary by insurance company. You don’t need everything to start.

Current commercial auto policy

The full policy or renewal proposal, not just a certificate of insurance. Declarations pages and the vehicle and driver schedules are the most useful parts.

Five years of currently valued loss runs

Request them from your current and prior insurance companies. If the business is newer, send all available history. How to read loss runs →

Vehicle schedule

Year, make, model, VIN, vehicle type and use, garaging city, radius, and stated value where physical damage is needed. A carrier schedule often works.

Driver schedule

Name, date of birth, license number and state, CDL status, and date of hire. License numbers and dates of birth can wait until we’re ready to approach markets.

Have 15 vehicles? Don’t retype them. Upload your carrier’s schedule, or use our fleet schedule template (Excel), which has tabs for vehicles and drivers.
