Questions & answers

Commercial fleet insurance questions, answered plainly.

Who operates Texas Contractor Coverage?

Texas Viking Insurance, LLC, an independent insurance agency at 9922 Leopard Street, Ste. 104, Corpus Christi, Texas. This site is a specialized commercial auto and fleet resource for the agency; it is not a separate insurance company or agency.

What kinds of businesses do you work with?

Established Texas businesses operating multiple commercial vehicles, across five categories: construction and contracting fleets; property maintenance and field services; wholesale and distribution companies; transportation and logistics; and industrial, energy, and specialty fleets. See all 50 industries. Eligibility depends on the operation and the insurance companies involved.

Is there a minimum fleet size?

No fixed minimum. Our focus is businesses with roughly 5 to 50 vehicles, especially 10 or more, but we review established operations individually.

Do you work outside Corpus Christi?

Yes. The agency is based in Corpus Christi and is licensed to write business throughout Texas.

Do you insure for-hire trucking companies?

Yes, for established transportation operations with operating history, experienced drivers, and current coverage. Trucking is underwritten differently from a contractor or service fleet, and new authorities face a much narrower market. See transportation & logistics.

Do you offer instant online quotes?

No. Commercial auto for an established fleet requires a review of vehicles, drivers, losses, and operations. We tell you whether a review is worthwhile before asking for a full submission.

Which insurance companies do you work with?

As an independent agency we have access to multiple insurance markets, including standard and specialty commercial auto markets, subject to eligibility. We don’t publish specific companies; the right market depends on your account.

How far ahead of renewal should we start?

For an established fleet, 60 to 90 days before renewal is a good target. It allows time to gather loss runs and schedules and to compare options without pressure.

What are loss runs and how do we get them?

Loss runs are your insurance company’s claim history report for your policies. Request them from your current agent or insurance company, and from prior companies for the last five years. See loss runs explained.

Can you help with contract insurance requirements?

Yes. Send the insurance section of the contract and we’ll explain what it requires — limits, additional insured, waiver of subrogation, primary/non-contributory wording — and how your current program compares.

Do you write other business insurance?

Yes. Through Texas Viking Insurance we also handle general liability, workers’ compensation, commercial property, and umbrella or excess liability.

Is my information kept private?

We use the information you submit to evaluate your inquiry and, with your permission, to approach insurance markets on your behalf. See our privacy notice.
