Need a COI Fast?

A general contractor just called. The project starts tomorrow. They need a certificate of insurance before you can step foot on site. Here's exactly what to do.

What is a COI?

A Certificate of Insurance (COI) is a one-page document that proves you have active insurance coverage. It lists your policy numbers, coverage types, limits, and the name of your insurance carrier. GCs, property managers, and project owners require them before allowing contractors on site.

A COI is not your policy — it's just proof that the policy exists. Your agent generates it from your active policy.

How Fast Can You Get One?

If you already have a policy with us, we can typically issue a COI the same day — often within hours. If you need to add an additional insured (the GC or property owner), we can usually do that same day as well.

If you don't have a policy yet, we can often get you quoted, bound, and issued within one business day for standard contractor trades.

What to Do Right Now

  1. Call us at (361) 248-3307 — this is the fastest option if you need something today.
  2. Or fill out our quick quote form and note that you need a COI urgently.
  3. Have the GC's or property manager's information ready — name, address, and what they want listed on the COI.
  4. Know what coverage limits they require — most GCs want $1M/$2M general liability.
